Octopulse is a Max for Live rhythm engine created by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred. It combines eight independent pulse generators—each with its own clock, base rate, multiplier, division, length, and offset—into a cohesive rhythmic system with shared global controls.

Designed for generative and performance workflows, Octopulse produces probabilistic polyrhythms, Euclidean patterns, and evolving melodic or percussive structures that always stay in key. All output conforms to Live 12’s scale and key or can be pinned locally, while discrete routing via the included X-Relay utility lets each pulse target any destination in your set.

Each pulse arm supports full randomization of pitch, rate, multiplier, octave, and velocity, or can be locked to maintain specific parameters during global randomization. Euclidean sequencing enables structured rhythmic fills with controllable step count, direction, inversion, and offset. Optional cycle resets keep polymetric layers in time with the bar, while adjustable swing and offset controls introduce natural groove. Octopulse responds to incoming MIDI for real-time transposition, supports both polyphonic and monophonic playback, and includes dedicated modes for melodic or drum-rack programming. With scale awareness, Push optimization, and extensive parameter control, Octopulse delivers deep rhythmic variation with immediate, musical results.
