Designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred, Polyfold is a polycyclic, polymetric, polyphonic Max for Live sequencer designed as a unique creative hub within Ableton Live. Harnessing 16 independent parameter lanes each with up to 1024 steps per lane, Polyfold enables recursive meta-structures, cross-lane interaction, and extended control of external software, taking sequencing far beyond conventional step limits — without sacrificing meticulous per-step control. Built as an architectural pattern weaver, Polyfold integrates flexible rhythmic rate staging, harmonic layering, probabilistic control, modulation routing, creative ratchetting, and external protocols into a unified system.

16 Interdependent Sequencers

Polyfold supports up to 16,384 total steps unfolding across independent polymetric lanes. Combined with probability lanes and per-step values, it offers more countless internal combinations: an endless playground of rhythmic and harmonic possibilities.

Multiply and Divide operate as separate sequencers that combine per step to modify the Base Rate, enabling rhythmic folding and layered subdivision across multiple cycles simultaneously.

Extended Parameter Sequencing


  • Multiply, Divide, Pitch 1-4, Octave, Ratchet and Delay all get chance lanes
  • Velocity and Length get per-step deviation lanes
  • All parameter lanes feature expressive output ranges for real-time control
  • Unique ratchetting with pitch, velocity, and length decay with pitch decay deviation and optional clip, wrap, and fold behaviors
  • Each pitch lane can be transposed optionally by Octave, Transpose, and real-time MIDI input
  • Two modulation sequencers combine for multi-mapping output
  • OSC transmission per sequencer with optional MIDI CC output
  • Send sequences anywhere with up to 64 X-Relay routing busses

Polyfold’s expressive ratchet architecture enables controlled density, fragmentation, and rate-relative recursive rhythmic subdivision for intricate ornamentation probabilistically embedded in your cycles.
