Solarus and Cosmus are designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred to bring the dynamics of the solar system into your DAW. All instances of Solarus in your Live set will utilize the base Earth Day rate set by an instance of the included Cosmus utility. The base rate determined by Cosmus accelerates what would otherwise be 24 hours on Earth to maintain relative rates between all instances of Solarus in your set, regardless of which celestial body they are set to represent.

The actual rate of each instance of Solarus is then determined by the celestial body dropdown chooser and the toggle between Orbit or Rotation mode, which will then set it to the relative time of one orbital or rotational cycle of that body. Below the LFO waveform is a display showing the length in hours of the orbit or rotation of the celestial body currently selected and the resulting rate in seconds when multiplied by the universal day rate set by Cosmus.

Changing the day rate in Hertz, MIDI notes, or metrical rate with polymetric multiplier and polyrhythmic tuplet divider in Cosmus will change the relative rates of all instances of Solarus throughout a set. You should only use one instance of Cosmus per set, ideally on your master track. Cosmus is required for all instances of Solarus to maintain relative rate consistency – and for rate settings to automated or saved with your Live set.
Advanced Solarus features include gravitational curve warping and modulation quantization. Both devices are optimized for Push with full Info View annotations. Map up to eight target parameters per Solarus, and let the cycles of the cosmos unfurl.

How to Use Cosmus & Solarus together:

  1. Place Cosmus on your master track to set the universal day rate for the system.
  2. Add instances of Solarus on desired tracks.
  3. Select celestial bodies and motions, then adjust settings to create uniquely interdependent modulation patterns.
  4. Map the resulting modulation to parameters anywhere in your set.

Multi-Mappable
Map the resulting modulation signal to modulate or remote control up to eight parameters anywhere in your set.

Info View Annotated
Learn all you need to know directly in Live - just open the Info View and hover your mouse over any parameter.

Scale Aware
Natively integrated with Live 12's scale and key for seamless workflow.
Theme Adaptive
Device colors automatically adapt to your preferred Live theme.

Optimized for Push
All parameters ready and available in Push.
