TACTUM

Stochastic Impulse Monosynth

Event-driven synthesis, animated by chance.

Tactum is a free dual-oscillator stochastic monosynth deisgned to explore articulated time through controlled unpredictability. Optimized for Push with comprehensive Info View annotations, Tactum pairs two independent oscillators—each offering Noise, Metal, and Texture to Waves, FM, Bits, and Boom—with per-note randomization built directly into its two-stage envelope, multimode filter, oscillator effects, and panning to bring any sound to life. A dedicated Click oscillator reinforces transient definition, while optional cross-modulation algorithms, scale awareness, and global output control keep results musical even as parameters continuously vary.

all net proceeds go to World Central Kitchen.

Motion enables system-wide stochastic movement, and a multifunction central display doubles as an XY exploration plane, visualizing oscillator scopes, envelopes, filters, and stereo output in real time. Designed for focused, monophonic expression with deep variability, Tactum is a compact, experimental instrument for producers seeking generative precision without sacrificing control.
Info View Annotated
Learn all you need to know directly in Live - just open the Info View and hover your mouse over any parameter.

Scale Aware
Natively integrated with Live 12's scale and key for seamless workflow.
Theme Adaptive
Device colors automatically adapt to your preferred Live theme.

Optimized for Push
All parameters ready and available in Push.

KEY FEATURES

  • Two-stage envelope with Attack and Decay randomization within specified ranges
  • Multimode filter with LP, HP, BP, and Notch options, plus Filter and Resonance randomization
  • Two independent oscillators, selectable from Noise, Metal, Texture, Waves, FM, Bits, and Boom
  • Two FX per oscillator each with randomization within specified ranges
  • Mute, volume, transposition, detune, and envelope time factor per oscillator
  • Dedicated Click oscillator with output volume and character editing
  • Panning with randomization
  • Motion to apply randomization globally
  • Three optional cross-modulation algorithms: add, subtract, or multiply
  • Optional scale awareness ensures all output - even when transposed internally - conforms to your Live set’s current scale and key
  • Global output limiting to keep unruly signal in check, or hard clipping to push it
  • All FX, envelope, and filter parameters can be assigned to the central adjustment plane
  • Multifunction central display shows all active oscillator output scopes, current envelope or filter settings while adjusting, left and right pan output meters, and click editor when active, while doubling as assignable XY parameter exploration zone
