We are very excited to announce the release of Polyfold, a multidimensional Max for Live sequencing system for Ableton Live 12 and up. Designed for advanced polymetric, polyphonic MIDI sequencing, Polyfold features sixteen independent sequencer lanes with up to 1024 steps per lane, enabling extended-form composition and large-scale pattern development beyond conventional step sequencers. As a matter of fact, we’re not currently aware of any publicly available sequencers offering such a high step count - but we’ve taken measures not to forego meticulous per-step control even at such high counts. Adding powerful rhythmic flexibility, a dual rate-stage architecture allows independent Multiply and Divide sequencers to reshape a shared base rate per step, supporting complex rhythmic structures and cross-lane interaction inside Ableton Live.
Four polyphonic pitch sequencers combine with optional Octave and long-form Transpositions sequences to generate unfolding yet coherent progressions. It also offers per-step probability, internal pattern preset libraries with custom recall, global Chance, Velocity, Length, Hold, Delay, and uniquely expressive Ratchet sequencing. Adding dedicated modulation lanes with optional MIDI CC output and OSC embedded throughout, Polyfold functions as a comprehensive multi-application sequencing system. Integrated X-Relay routing enables flexible MIDI distribution across your entire Live set, supporting advanced rhythmic programming, harmonic phrasing, generative sequencing, and long-form multi-media experiments.
