What if you could easily grab, shift, expand, contract, invert, reverse, arpeggiate, and juggle MIDI in real-time?

A creative MIDI utility, X-Looper is designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred for instantaneous capture and manipulation of MIDI in a variety of unique ways.

Capture musical ideas on the fly by punching in and out manually or at predetermined intervals in bars. Intensify or reduce the velocity, flexibly alter playback speed, add versatile offset delay, overdub new notes in, play looped notes in reverse, invert their pitches across the keyboard, randomly shuffle the loop with flexible divisions, shorten or offset the loop, and even use a stored loop as an arpeggio.

Transpose looped notes within 69 scales in any key — fully scale aware in Live 12, set locally or via the included Global Hub utility in Live 10 or 11. Transpose loops via real-time MIDI input, solo’d or gated. Manually rewind any loop back to the start on the fly. And finally — export a loop as a MIDI file for use in any DAW.

HOW DO I ARPEGGIATE MY MIDI LOOP?

  1. Record a MIDI loop into X-Looper’s current index so it has some MIDI note content to be triggered and transposed for arpeggiation.

  2. Select "Arp" from the mode menu at the upper left of the device (which shows "Free" by default) so your loop will only be triggered when playing new MIDI notes into the device, and will also restart each time you do so.

  3. Finally, switch the transpose toggle from "Internal" to "Receive" so that the loop will also be transposed by the MIDI notes you play as you play them.
